Google Business Profile checklist for local businesses in Bihar
Ten things to check on your Google Business Profile so nearby customers can find you, trust you and contact you.
When someone nearby searches for “salon near me” or “best café in Purnea”, Google shows a map with three businesses. Those businesses are picked mostly from Google Business Profiles. A complete, active profile is one of the cheapest ways a local business can get found.
The checklist
- Claim and verify your profile. If you have not verified it, you cannot control what it says.
- Use your real business name. Do not add keywords or city names to the name. Google can suspend profiles for this.
- Pick the right primary category. This matters more than almost anything else. Add secondary categories only if they truly apply.
- Check your address and map pin. Move the pin to your actual entrance so customers do not get lost.
- Add correct hours, including festival hours. Update special hours for Chhath, Diwali and Eid so customers do not arrive to a closed shutter.
- Add a phone number you actually answer, and a WhatsApp-enabled number if possible.
- Upload real photos. Shopfront, interior, products, team. Add new ones every month.
- List your products or services with short descriptions and prices where it makes sense.
- Post updates. Offers, new arrivals and events keep the profile active.
- Ask for reviews and reply to all of them, politely, including the negative ones.
A note on reviews: never buy reviews or offer rewards in exchange for them. Ask happy customers to share honest feedback instead.
How often should you update it?
A good rhythm is one post and a few new photos every week, and a quick check of hours and contact details every month. It takes little time, but it is easy to forget when you are running a business.
